Von Willebrand Disease type 2B, case study

In 2020 the following case study was distributed to ECAT participants:

During a pregnancy, a 28 year old female presents a decrease in platelet count as low as 20 x 109/L. Previously she experienced severe vaginal bleedings.

Participants were asked to investigate the potential cause for these abnormalities by investigating the results of screening tests and any possible subsequent abnormal coagulation tests.

In case of an abnormality a possible diagnosis for the patient was asked.

The sample used in this case study survey was from von Willebrand Disease type 2B patient.
