von Willebrand Disease, Clinical and Laboratory Aspects
This issue is dedicated entirely to von Willebrand Disease (VWD). The Clincal part starts with an overview of the current classification, diagnosis and treatment of von Willebrand disease followed by phenotype and genotype associations in von Willebrand disease and a contribution which describes the clinical, therapeutical and laboratory aspects of type 2N von Willebrand disease. The second part focusses on laboratory aspects with a contribution which tells us the story of the past, the present and the future testing repertoire. Also an overview of the multimer analysis, the assay systems to measure platelet-dependent von Willebrand factor activity and observations from ECAT surveys related to von Willebrand disease diagnostics are given.
