Dysfibrinogenemia, case study

In 2018 the following case study was distributed to ECAT participants:

The central lab received a citrated blood sample from the consultation hour of the gynaecologist. There were no remarks concerning any signs or history of bleeding in this midterm pregnant young woman.

She is 28 years old and she expects her first child.

Basic coagulation profile was ordered. Unfortunately the automated coagulation testing fails and repeated measurements do not lead to the detection of coagulation times.

There were no pre-analytical problems with the sample.

The sample used in this case study survey was from a patient with dysfibrinogenemia.
